2018 chevy malibu transmission problems

What I'm trying to find out if there have been any other complaints or concern regarding this issue. I smelled something burning when I parked and got out of the vehicle, but thought it was coming from outside the vehicle. I pulled off side of the road in shock. It cost me a $128 for them to tell me they wanted $400 more!! Waited a few minutes and restarted it. Recall no. A message was displayed that said the engine's power was reduced.. My speed also decreased to about 20-25 mph and it was hard trying to get it back about that without the car sounding all funny. I replaced the battery to make sure that wasn't the issue. My car was not able to get over 27 mph there was no warning what so ever if anyone would have been behind me I would have been rear ended at this time I took it to a mechanic who put it on the computer it was coded at the pedal position sensor. Gm needs to recall these malibu's and fix the dangerous "reduced engine power" error because it's dangerous to the driver in rush hour traffic and on the tollway traffic with no ability to go over 30 mph. Any time I've used my cruise control after my car had been serviced for the initial recall for the ecm over a year ago, I keep getting the 'reduced engine power' notification. We started it again and the check engine light stays on, but we were able to gain speed to get back in traffic.
